Modelled on Manor Von Barron, the spooky home of one of the world’s greatest villains - Samuel Von Barron, the new LEGO® Haunted House model is full to the brim with spine-tingling details. As a fan of houses and buildings, I really want to love this, but I just don’t.

Henry (Ricky Ubeda), a quirkily ordinary young man in shorts and a pink hat, seems to be on the run from painful memories. He and his journal have come to a clearing where others have gathered to share their stories. The campfire setting, demarcated with lanterns, suggests a support group.
The second version was redesigned to add an extra link to the chain in step 440 which makes little sense to me as more links only means additional slipping. There are also no unique pieces in this set and most pieces appear to be relatively inexpensive on Bricklink. A key feature in most architecture is repetition within a building. Trim work including the alternating block and pip in light grey at all the corners and the brown striping around the building help coalesce a uniform look.

In today’s flourishing experience economy, we push ourselves to continue innovating and bringing new events to market. Special events such as Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns, Delusion, Otherworld Philadelphia, Battleground, Krampus, and Love Bites bring unique experiences to our guests all across the country. All said, The set earns our 4/5 Stars (Recommended) rating due to the excellent play functions, but we will have to lower that rating if the mecanism continues to strip gears more as I continue to play with it. Roof peaks have a prominent triple mini minaret atop each roof made from foils and lightens what is otherwise a rather heavy architectural style. There are also various scupper outlets on the eaves for water to come out of with grey frogs being used as gargoyles.

Shine a light on this mysterious ruby stolen from Pharaoh Hotep. The set is broken into bags numbered 1 thru 18 with some having two bags per number and some of the steps being fairly quick and easy to complete. All told I put this set together over the course of a couple of evenings so it wasn’t a super lengthy build, but I liked watching it come together. This set was provided for review by The LEGO Group but the review represents an expression of my own opinions.
The surrounding brickwork appears simple, although I like the black roof and the contrast between the steps and the curved ramp. However, I am disappointed with the external environment because the exposed dark tan plate looks extremely dull. One gravestone features an ornate bat while the other represents Tiago Catarino, a former set designer who has recently departed LEGO. The design of these initials corresponds precisely with another printed tile in Ship in a Bottle that was developed by Tiago. The neighbouring pumpkin and desiccated reddish brown plants look excellent as well. “Illinoise” becomes a road trip, as Henry ventures to Chicago and then to New York, testing himself in big-city landscapes that are incorporated in Rigg’s scenic design.
I bought the haunted house when it came out, mainly for the parts to use for modular green grocer. I did attempt to build it but really didn’t like it and gave up half way through. I’m not sure this haunted house will be as popular.After looking over this again, I’ve decided it’s the green colour putting me off. This latest addition to the LEGO Fairground collection is jam-packed with exciting features to surprise and entertain even the bravest of thrill-seekers.
I just wish I could fit this into the rest of my modular city scape. I have not bought anoof the previous fairground range but this is a maybe because of its modular like leanings. As for the yellow object that originates from 7412, that is most likely part of a chorten/stupa, a Buddhist shrine that holds relics. At least, that’s what the designer of the original set appeared to be inspired by.

Baron von Barron was apparently successful, although stealing the ruby also brought a curse upon the villain. Pressing an external panel activates a light brick behind the painting, causing Pharaoh Hotep to appear! This looks absolutely spectacular and I love the notable glow which emanates from the ruby whenever Hotep emerges. Obelisks appear throughout the Desert subtheme of Adventurers but this design most closely resembles an example in 5958 Mummy's Tomb. The cartouche has been changed though, displaying four hieroglyphs which can be translated to read 'Ogel', in reference to the Alpha Team's fearsome foe. The grandiose porch is remarkably elegant, featuring two golden lamps with matching handles on each door.

I do agree that maybe a separate open tower or hotel theme would've been better but you can't please everyone. While not for everyone I appreciate the effort and passion the designers put into it. The lift chain comprises 148 black chain links and two light bluish grey tread elements. These capture the carriage as the chain moves, raising it slowly before the carriage is released at the top. Moving the carriage past the flywheel brakes sometimes causes the gears to chatter which is a shame, although that may improve following repeated use. Additionally, the brakes are very effective in slowing the carriage before it collides with the rubber stoppers at the base.
Bring the terror to life
With a guide, you’ll explore the different rooms in the Whaley house using ghost-hunting equipment and partake in an actual paranormal investigation. The Scream Zone at the Del Mar Scaregrounds is home to a laundry list of haunted attractions. There are also several delightful, spooky attractions for kids and those less excited by the more intense hauntings. One of the only things that I see missing in the architectural stylings here is a widows walk which would have fit in nicely along the roofline parallel to the front of the building. On the exterior there is little that can be found lacking otherwise and I like how it looks.
Removing the portrait reveals the simple, but ingenious, mechanism inside. The painting is printed on a trans-clear wall panel and another trans-clear wall panel is situated behind that, featuring Pharaoh Hotep. Light passes through the rearmost panel and is projected onto the portrait to create the desired spectral effect. I particularly appreciate the gap in this image of Hotep that causes the ruby to glow brightly. The studded texture is satisfactory but authentic roof tiles would have been preferable, perhaps comprising pentagonal tiles that could be layered to create a realistic design. Admittedly, that would have necessitated the addition of numerous elements but I think the result would be worthwhile.

There is an overall feeling of horror, sadness, and despair in the hotel. Perhaps the most famous of all DTLA hauntings, the Cecil Hotel has seen more than its fair share of murders, suicides, serial killers, and disappearances since 1927. The 600-room building has been home to many different people in its almost 90-year history. People visiting the home have made claims of being pushed or pulled by the angry ghosts. The most intense activity occurs at night, when even if the T.V. Channels are changed, the visitor may experience activity from the angry, revenge-seeking ghosts.
The lyrics — poetic shards that blur the line between the personal and the historic, the symbolic and the idiosyncratic, the living and the dead — swirl from the recesses of inner life. The choreography translates this interior struggle into athletic grace. On another occasion, a group of women saw the apparition of a tall dark figure appear from nothing and walk towards them! They watched as the figure walked and disappeared into an old oak tree.
Powered Up components can motorise the model which is great, although purchasing two motors and the hub would cost £74.97 or $83.97 and I think turning the crank is equally enjoyable. Further to the aforementioned obelisk and Anubis heads, the baron has also acquired a head belonging to the sphinx from 5978 Sphinx Secret Surprise. This decoration closely resembles the version from 1998, although its original red and blue stripes have been replaced with dark orange and dark blue while the yellow highlights are now pearl gold. Furthermore, a detonator appears behind the Resonator, apparently to destroy the sphinx should it become cursed. None of their constituent components are unique, matching previous Fairground sets, but there are some uncommon pieces. I was pleasantly surprised to find that no stickers are included.
